BEHAVE - What to do when your child won't
The 3 pointers to mindful discipline
By Val Mullally

little book about how to connect with your child to understand its needs and behaviour. It is really easy to read and I finished the book in two days. The important point in this book is to stop before doing something about your child's behaviour and try to put yourself in his shoes, what does he wants, why is he doing that, Val, the writer, puts down a few simple questions to help you understand and respond to your kids behaviour instead of reacting. She also mentioned the fact that it's important to think about yourselves. If you are in a bad mood you deal with your kids challenging behaviour differently then when you feel calm, happy and rested. So as I heard many times before, happy parents = happy kids. There is also a big difference between reacting and responding to your kids and this was a big eye opener for me and my hubby. And another think: this book describes you how to set discipline. I absolutely loved that part and will test it on my kids, when they get bigger. Such an easy way....you  really have to read it. This book can open your eyes too and your communication with your kids could get much better. Notes from this book are on my board with all important things I need to do ;) I just have to look at it more often :D

Siblings without rivalry
Help your children live together so you can live too
By Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish

A good book about living with more children. How to deal with their rivality. It describes how to eliminate behaviour that causes more problems between them. This book has some cartoons with everyday situations and shows you two ways how to deal with them. One that causes more rivalry another deals with it without such a pressure. It has a lot of stories to find one similar to your situation. The only think I didn't like about the book is that it mentioned to use NO HURTING as a good way to stop it. Actually from my experience anytime I use NO it's like I didn't even said it. So I am using words like BE GENTLE etc instead. Otherwise it's great reading and could give you good tips how to behave, so your kids can live next to each other without war. The format of this book is very helpful. As you read it you get the cartoons, summary, stories etc, so if you get stuck, you can first check the cartoons and probably find answer there.

I'm currently reading How to talk so kids will listen & listen so kids will talk from same writers as the Siblings without rivalry. When I started I actually realize I should have read this one first instead of the other, but even so, I believe it's better late then never ;) BTW I'm still at the beginning, so review will follow.
